T2 Trainspotting

Atmospherics & Rigs

explore project

Rent Boy, Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie return to the screens in the much anticipated T2 Trainspotting, twenty-one years on from Danny Boyle’s 1996 original cult film. Based on Irvine Welsh’s novel Porno and Trainspotting, audiences wait for the contemporary versions of the iconic characters, played by Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle.

Project Details

We provided all the atmospherics for the film, including rain, wet reflective grounds and thin mist in the air – both of which were used to full effect in conjunction with lighting by Director of Photography, Anthony Dod Mantle (Slumdog Millionaire).

There were – as could only be expected – a few fights between the characters to be filmed. Equipped with blood rigs, we created all the safe, breakable props, such as smashing glass tables, balsa wood pool cues and a toilet made from rubber and foam. Also providing all the prosthetics for the film, including a knife injury to an arm.

It was lovely to work with Danny Boyle on the film, having worked with him on the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony. Indeed, the whole team, who were based at the Pyramids Industrial Park in central Scotland for the filming, were a joy to work with. It is always nice to get a clear brief and to work with truly creative people. It was also a pleasure to work with the cast who are relaxed and up for anything.
