The American rodent control company D-Con are well known for their comical television adverts. For the campaign for their iconic refillable Mice bait system - titled 'Mice love it to Death', produced by Hunky Dory, they decided to create two cheeky mouse puppets.
Project Breakdown
Artem was asked to create two large puppets, operated by hands and rods.
Artem generated CAD drawings of mouse characters and machined simple forms in EPS which we used to generate patterns for the structure and fur for the puppets.
The 600mm high puppets were fairly simply animated - pupeteers were able to manipulate the head and mouth with their hand and the arms were rod operated. The eyes, nose and ears were static and the puppets also had an extra hand glove with fingers extensions to enable the "mouse" to grip objects.
