Artem Case Studies

The Legend of Barney Thomson Trinity Works Entertainment / Sigma Films

'Artem at Glasgow were able to step in at the last minute to provide SFX cover for the movie. They were easy and courteous to deal with, and professional in their prep work and handling on set.'

Kevin Woodhouse, Art Director

Barney Thomson is an awkward, diffident, Glasgow barber, who lives a desperately mediocre and uninteresting life until he enters the grotesque and comically absurd world of the serial killer.

The Legend of Barney Thomson, directed by and starring Robert Carlyle, was released on 24th July 2015.

Artem was very pleased to provide SFX to the project, including smoke FX in a forest and practical bonfires.  A bathroom in Barney’s mother’s flat had to be tanked and a water supply rigged to the bathtub (some three floors up in a disused high rise block of flats where all water and power had been cut off years earlier) for scenes involving an over-flowing bathtub.  The team also delivered Dry Ice FX and the blood rigs for the key murder scenes as Barney’s life spirals out of control.
