The Borrowers Working Title Films
The Borrowers, directed by Peter Hewitt, features a family of tiny people who live secretly in the walls and floors of an English house and 'borrow' from the 'big' inhabitants of the home in order to survive.
Artem provided selected giant props for the film, as well as the Spillers Express model and tunnel, which transported the borrowers through the drainage system and was made out of a roller skate with an aerosol can strapped to the back which acted like a rocket! This was scaled up two times the size of a normal roller skate. The skate was made out of milled aluminium and the aerosol can was rolled and shaped in aluminium with a gas cannister hidden inside. It ran on a track that was hidden underneath the model set.
