A Cock And Bull Story Revolution Films
'Thank you to Artem for all your help on Tristram Shandy. It was an odd job needing effects ranging from battle scenes and firework displays to a sash window that traps a boy's willy!
The Artem team were patient and enthusiastic throughout and it was a pleasure working with them.'
Emma MacDevitt, Art Director, A Cock And Bull Story
Michael Winterbottom's A Cock and Bull Story is an inventive adaptation of the classic 18th Century comic novel, The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman by Laurence Sterne - a well-known, though not necessarily widely read, masterpiece.
Winterbottom's interpretation tells two stories: that of an 18th century Englishman, Tristram Shandy (Steve Coogan), and that of the hapless 21st century filmmakers who are adapting the notoriously unfilmable work, The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman, with Steve Coogan in the title role.
The picture strolls onto a modern film set complete with insecure actors, scandal-hunting reporters and balky investors. As it follows the fortunes of both the characters in the film and those desperately trying to make it, we are privy to calamities, crises and flirtations that transcend centuries.
Artem was approached by Revolution Films to provide a variety of effects to help bring these tales to life. From parties and battle scenes to flashbacks of painful childhood events and forcep injuries.
