Madonna Sorry HSI London
Artem was approached by HSI London to build a giant cage for the new video to accompany Madonna's latest single, 'Sorry', the second to be taken from her Confessions on a Dance Floor album.
The cage had to safely withstand a large number of dancers hanging from it, climbing over it and jumping around within it. This was quite an undertaking for our special effects technicians, especially in 5 days! The finished article measured 24ft x 16ft, stood 9ft tall, was built from steel and then 'aged' by a team of scenic artists.
The flooring inside had to look like concrete, but be matt lacquered to within an inch of its life to provide a suitable surface for Madonna and her dancers to perform on.
Bob Thorne, Artem Supervisor/Designer commented:
'It was great to work on such a high profile project, if a little daunting given the brief. The cage had to withstand 10 artistes dancing on the roof and up to 50 dancers climbing up the 3 inch mesh walls. In addition, one entire 24ft side of the cage had to be removable to allow the director to get the desired shots.'
