Jaguar - Blow Away the Grey Wanda Productions

This job presented a particularly interesting challenge, with the final effect pulled off beautifully despite a limited budget.

The film is set within a dark, mysterious, industrial space, and opens with a shot of a silhouetted, non-specific car shape, obscured by what appears to be a dense layer of graphite or crystalline ash.  A sequence of ‘reveal’ shots then show this ‘metallic’ dust being blown off the car, exposing the beautiful, glistening new Jaguar underneath.

Our brief was to create the ash-like material which covers and is then blown away from the Jaguar. We carried out considerable testing in our workshop before attending the shoot to ensure the most effective result. Having experimented with various materials and techniques, we successfully created a special 'ash' which contained a shimmering, metallic quality, yet remained lightweight; we supplied powerful wind machines for blowing this material from the car. We also used special powders, ferrofluids and magnetic effects for a series of macro-shots, creating illusions of cracking and fracturing.
