Damien Hirst came to us to help him turn one of his artistic ideas into a reality.
He envisaged a 'super-real' figure with very subtle continuous movement designed to give the illusion of life.
The finished animatronic was encased in a sealed glass case in a New York gallery only accessible by lifting the cases - weighing many tonnes - off by crane! It was therefore built with very high life cycle and "zero maintenance" components.
The piece is currently on display in Tate Britain with the added twist that the sealed glass now encases a very high humidity environment to facilitate bacteria growth. |
